Financial Literacy & First Time Homebuyer Classes:

The CDC of Boston is working with banking and financial partners to establish community services needed by residents and small business owners in our community.

Building Financial Strength in Our Community

We are working with community partners to provide financial literacy workshops and first-time homebuyer education that support residents and small business owners in reaching their financial goals. Through these workshops, we aim to strengthen connections within our community and support residents and small business owners in reaching their financial goals.

Financial Literacy

We will host a monthly financial literacy workshop to address needs identified within our community, including budgeting and personal financial goals, credit management and repair, banking basics, debt negotiation and resolution, and financial planning for home ownership and estate planning. We are working with LPL Financial and Rockland Trust to plan and host this program, and we have invited Eastern Bank to have a representative involved in this initiative.

FIRST TIME HOMEBUYER CLASSES

We will host a comprehensive first time homebuyer class for residents who have set this goal through the financial literacy program. We already have multiple volunteer presenters interested, including Fred Tannous, a real estate lawyer on the CDC board, and Bernice Osborne of Keller Williams. We are cultivating additional volunteers from Rockland Trust, Coldwell Banker, LPL Financial, and other agencies to support these efforts. We have also invited Eastern Bank to participate. Depending on the needs within our community, we will engage with a hard money loan specialist as a bridge to traditional financing for those working to improve their credit.
